Peter James, ASC, visits Distinguished Filmmakers Series


Film Instructor, Allen Daviau, ASC will be hosting Cinematographer, Peter James, ASC on Thursday, August 5th at 2:00PM in the Ahmanson Auditorium.

Australian-born James's credits include Driving Miss Daisy, Black Robe, Alive, This Thing Called Love, Silent Fall, Diabolique, Paradise Road, The Newton Boys, Double Jeopardy, Meet the Parents, The Pacifier, Cheaper by the Dozen 2, 27 Dresses, and many others. He was nominated for an Emmy Award for cinematography on the HBO film ...And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself.

Robert Pearson visits Distinguished Filmmakers Series


Film Department instructor, David Kellogg, will host a Q&A with Production Designer, Robert Pearson on Tuesday, April 13th. Among Pearson's credits are the films Fireflies in the Garden, Solitary Man, The Matador, Rounders, and Unforgettable.

John Toll, ASC, visits Distinguished Filmmakers Series


On Thursday, April 8, 2010, Film Department instructor Allen Daviau, ASC will host a screening of The Thin Red Line, followed by Q&A with cinematographer John Toll, ASC. John's credits also include the hit films Almost Famous, Gone Baby Gone, The Last Samurai, Tropic Thunder, It's Complicated, and many others. John is the most recent of only three cinematographers to win consecutive Oscars for Best Cinematography -- for Legends of the Fall (1994) and Braveheart (1995).

DEPARTMENT HIGHLIGHT: Janusz Kaminski visit



Two-time Academy Award winner Janusz Kaminski joined director and Art Center faculty David Kellogg for our Distinguished Filmmakers Series in November. His latest works include: Funny People, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. The renowned cinematographer has also signed on to work on Steven Spielberg's next film, Interstellar.

DEPARTMENT HIGHLIGHT: Director Curtis Hanson Visit



Also last October, director Curtis Hanson dropped by for our Distinguished Filmmakers Series. Hanson garnered critical acclaim for his work on L.A. Confidential, and has most recently worked on Wonder Boys, 8 Mile, In Her Shoes, and Lucky You.
