Sam Raimi visits Distinguished Filmmaker Series


Business Affairs for the Filmmaker instructor Lee Rosenbaum will be hosting Writer/Producer/Director Sam Raimi as part of the ongoing Undergraduate Film - Distinguished Filmmakers Series on Wednesday February 20, 12:00 PM in the L.A. Times Media Center.

Raimi first came to prominence with the cult horror classic, "The Evil Dead". Raimi's major studio debut, "Darkman", starred Liam Neeson as a masked vigilante. Since then, he has made such notable and varied films as "Army of Darkness", the critically-acclaimed "A Simple Plan" with Bill Paxton and Billy Bob Thornton, and "The Gift" starring Cate Blanchett and Hilary Swank. Raimi is best known for his blockbuster "Spider-Man" franchise, including the the two sequels.

Tony Bill visits Distinguished Filmmakers Series


Business Affairs for the Filmmaker instructor Lee Rosenbaum hosted actor, producer and director Tony Bill for Art Center Film's Distinguished Filmmakers Series. Bill won an Academy Award for Best Picture for producing "The Sting", one of the highest grossing films in history.

He began his acting career playing Frank Sinatra's younger brother in "Come Blow your Horn". Other acting credits include "None But the Brave", "You're A Big Boy Now", "Ice Station Zebra", "Shampoo" and "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure".

In 1980, Bill directed his first film, "My Bodyguard". He also directed "Six Weeks", "Five Corners", "Crazy People" and "Flyboys". For TV, Bill directed Truman Capote's "One Christmas", "Harlan Country War", "Pictures of Hollis Woods", and episodes of "Monk", "Leverage", and many others.

From 1984-2000, he co-owned, with Dudley Moore, celebrated restaurant 72 Market Street in Venice, CA. Bill just published "Movie Speak: How to Talk Like You Belong on a Film Set".

Josh Brolin visits Distinguished Filmmakers Series


Film Department instructor Dan Perri hosted one of Hollywood's hottest (and most talented) leading men, Josh Brolin. Making his film acting debut in the 1985 blockbuster, "Goonies", Josh Brolin has worked steadily for two decades, building a diverse and impressive body of work. His recent films include "American Gangsters", "In The Valley of Elah", "W" and "No Country for Old Men". His upcoming films include Gus Van Sant's "Milk", in which he plays Dan White.

Trevor Goring visits Distinguished Filmmakers Series


Film Department instructor, Aaron Sowd, will be hosting one of Hollywood's most successful and prolific storyboard artists, Trevor Goring.

Goring's most recent credits include "The Chronicles of Narnia", "The Spiderwick Chronicles", "Twilight" and Art Center Alum Zach Snyder's upcoming "Watchmen".

Special Screening of “Apollo 13”


On Sunday, November 16th, 2008, Art Center Film proudly presented a special screening of "Apollo 13".

Based on real events: in 1971, NASA's Apollo 13 mission sends astronauts Jim Lovell, Fred Haise, and Jack Swigert to the moon. En route, an explosion inside the space module turns the mission of exploration into a race against time for survival.

Starring Tom Hanks, Ed Harris and Kevin Bacon.
